I Need You To Come With Me to Africa

29 04 2012

“I am waiting for you in Africa”.

Those were the words that I heard from the Lord before my first trip to Tanzania as I prayerfully considered going. When my plane landed I made sure I was the last one off.  When I stepped on the runway I stepped into the presence of the Lord.  His Holy Spirit engulfed me.  I walked the runway with tears streaming down my cheeks.  I am now asking YOU to go with me on my next trip.  In your prayers and with your support.  I want you to join me in Africa.  There we, together, will share the Good News, feed the hungry and clothe the naked.  We will serve the least of these, plant churches and make disciples.  We will fulfill the Great Commission.   On Judgment day Jesus will say to us,  “Come, enter the Kingdom. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was sick and you visited me.”

I send in my long term visa paperwork Wednesday of this week.  I expect to leave the end of July or no later than late  August.   If you have not read my post on The Mission and The Method please do so now.  After reading that you will understand the context of my comments below.

First the answers to prayer.  Through my brother Joe Jones and the CFNet organization I am having my visa paperwork and process hand carried to the authorities through my host Misiray Hassan.  I have a place to live in Dar Es Salaam where I can store literature and rest when the need arises.   I will travel the country on bike with an interpreter preaching in villages and witnessing house to house.   Joe has arranged willing interpreters to work with me when I arrive in country.

That being arranged I need to raise 2200.00 immediately to lock down low ticket cost.  I ask you to prayerfully consider making a contribution now.   This is the first step in the journey should you choose to go with me.  I must mail the 1000.00 application fee and 200.00 alien identification fee in this week.   This funding represents almost half of the entire start up cost of the entire mission due to the extremely limited cost of this type of evangelism.

The next step will be purchases of bikes, water purification equipment and camping gear should we find ourselves between villages.  Believe it or not that is it on initial cost.  From there we need monthly funding for bibles and literature.  We estimate that to be 500.00 a month.  Marc Carrier, of Kingdom Driven Ministries is providing teaching materials in Kisawhili and has access to the Kiswahili bibles we need already on the ground and ready to be paid for and picked up.

Will you go with me?  I need my brothers and sisters to come along on this mission.  Please email me at midtownglenn@gmail.com and let me know if you are coming.  You can contribute online or through my church.  Both are tax deductible.  Contact me and I will tell you how.

Let the Mission begin!

The Time is Now

29 04 2012

The time for my departure is almost set.  I met with my adviser for Tanzania last week and now I must submit my long term visa application.  The agency I am applying though assures me that while the process takes time it is actually little more than a formality.  They have several missionaries in the field in Africa and welcome my addition.  I am posting under Most Recent Post  the actual details of the process along with my financial needs.  I am happy to announce that due to the support of my home church, Island Community Church, my living expenses are paid.  I have two remaining areas of need. Initial start up cost and the cost of bibles and literature.  I ask that you prayerfully consider participating with me in two areas.  Prayer and giving.  I am desperate for God’s blessing and I am confident that He will accomplish much through His Holy Spirit’s anointing and the earnest prayer of believers here in the US and abroad. Please turn now to Most Recent Post.

God bless you as you read this challenge,

Your brother,

Glenn
